Ch 4 - p. 184-195

Most of this stuff I already knew but I didn't know about the Windows Mail, and I didn't know that I could add people to contacts if they send me a message. I always thought that I had to add them manually, reading that made adding contacts to my mail a lot easier.

Digital Portfolio

I plan to use a website making software to create my digital portfolio, I have used it a couple times before and am familiar with its tools, and think it would be a great tool for my digital portfolio. The career I plan to go into is video editor track. Anything that has to deal with editing videos or creating special effects for videos. I would start off with the main page explaining who I am, then I will have separate pages for videos and a separate page for pictures and such that I did throughout my education.

iGoogle Finished

PLN

My PLN would be like a box, with one way in and one way out, where only people who have similar views to mine can enter. I would have a bouncer so that anyone that tries to create chaos gets forced to leave. My PLN would be able to help me learn certain things a lot quicker then any book can. I find that a PLN would be an easier place to learn because everyone that your talking to, has in one way or another, been through what you've been through, and can help you in a much more simpler way then any book can. It would be a private site that requires a unique user name and password that they would only get from me, so that I can control who enters and who leaves.

Phase 3 Experience

I couldn't of had any more fun then I did making this movie, there were a lot of laughs and a lot of mess ups, but that's what made it so fun. We had to move some thing around a bit like the setting and some of the characters/actors, but in the end it was very entertaining to do, and to watch. The movie didn't quite end up like the way we planned but I think it still turned out great. I just enjoyed doing this movie and hope we get to do another one like it soon.

My Experience During Phast 2

It was very entertaining going through the "Idea" phase, we had a lot of good ideas but like every "good" movie/production company, we could only pick one, and it ended up working out great. I had fun contributing to the script along with helping with setting and props and such. We each got to decide what costumes we wanted to wear, except me, I was pretty much set on one, I couldn't pick, but that was OK. I enjoyed trying to make my avatar look like a homeless man, which was actually a lot harder then I thought it would be. My group members were very helpful and creative and didn't judge which is what made the Idea Phase and Production Phase so much fun.

SCRIPT
It was a dark haloween night, the children left their home walking down 5th avenue, little did they know that Morty, the crazy hobo from was weatching, waiting on the rooftops, but they carried on happily awaiting candy.

As the children walk up to the first house, mixed feelings begin to brew inside each of them, excitement and fear of being out alone for the first time without adults, and the promise of candy...If only someone would knock on the door.
“You do it!” They nudged the little police man towards the first house. The doorbell rang, and immediately they were greeted with handfuls of delicious candy. PHEW! It was not nearly as hard as they expected. House after house, piles of candy later, and (most likely) a few cavities later, they get their first disappointment of the night. TOOTHBRUSHES? Where was the candy? The injustice! The nerve! There must be revenge...
*kids throw eggs*

They come to a house at the end of the street literally GLOWING from numerous Halloween decorations. They stop for a moment and stare in amazement. THIS house was different, this house probably had the motherload of all candy stashes awaiting...
With each knock their excitement grows a little more, and on the third knock an old woman slowly opens the door, and greats them with a squeal of delight.
“OOOHHH! LOOK AT THE CUTE COSTUMES!” The woman was clearly hadn’t had company in a while. She immediately began rambling on about her day, friends, the weather, her 12 pet cats; ANYTHING. The kids had their candy, they just wanted to leave, but the cheek-pinching, and cutesy talk continued until one finally mustered up the strength to say his mom wanted him home soon. As they trotted away down the path, they could still hear the woman babbling on about everything and nothing...to her cats...

It was getting late, so the children decided to call this night a success, and head home. It was a good thing too, because all of the houses were beginning to turn off their lights.
Perhaps it was the sugar-rush that gave him the courage, or just sheer stupidity, but the little police man decided to “play it suave” and carry all four bags of candy, in hopes to impress the little princess. Little did he know this was about to prove to be a very bad move...

2nd blocks from the house- hear a crack, footsteps, but can’t see very well Hobo attack!
kids: omfg! little ones run, but police man has too much candy, so he’s trudging and can’t get away. Hobo grabs bag of candy, but police officer doesn’t want to disapoint the lil princess, and he fights for it; they struggle, hobo pushes little boy to the ground, one bag of candy breaks, he gets away with the 3 others, and hobo skips away.
little boy is crying.
a few blocks down, the hobo is in a garbage can/alley, digging into his candy, frothing at the mouth, shaking.
The last scene: little piece of candy is being lifted to his lips, and right as it touches them, ENNNNNNNNNNNNND

What I Want To Be?

What is your major or career goal?

My major is the video and audio track of digital media, and I plan on going into special effects for movies and such, kind of like what After Effects does.

How can technology help or enhance it?

I could use technology to help me find jobs or gather more information on certain jobs, I can also use it to do research on certain parts of a job or if I got hired and had a job I could do research on the project I happen to be working on that day.

Chapter 2

I learned quite a lot in chapter 2, like that RSS feeds can be used to keep you up to date with stuff that your interested in along with the fact that the address bar isn't case sensitive, which was a big shocker to me because I always thought that it had to be, but now that I know it doesn't it saves me some time with trying to remember what letters were capitalized and which ones weren't. Also the fact that IP addresses are just easy ways to identify a computer, now I don't doubt or reject this fact, but IP addresses are not the easiest thing to remember in my personal experience, I always end up having to look mine up when I need it, it might just be the fact that we never really have the need to use or remember ours or others IP addresses, I'm sure if we had to remember them more often we would be able to remember ours or at least part of it.

Net Neutrality

I am in favor of net neutrality mainly on the fact that if big companies such as Verizon, start charging extra for their web services then most of their companies will switch carriers to someone who has either free internet or charges less for it, and if Google and Verizon team up then that's going to mean big trouble for anyone who has Verizon either as a carrier or has one of their Internet Packages. I feel that all internet, weather you access it from your smart phone or laptop or computer should be free, companies like Verizon should not be aloud to charge you to view certain websites, or restrict you from viewing websites you normally would look at.

Chapter 2, Saving a Web Page

I thought that the ability to save a web page for future access, even without internet connection was pretty cool, I knew i could save a page but I didn't actually know you could access it without internet connection.

Chapter 1

While reading chapter one I found a lot of things very interesting, such as what DSL stood for along with IP, I always knew what they were, I just never knew what they actually stood for. I also found that the invention of turning data into packets was also very interesting, because it made transferring data a lot safer and harder for people to steal information. I also found interesting the amount of bad things that had come out since the invention of the internet. Identity Theft, Cyber Stalking etc. I guess it's impossible to invent something without something wrong. All in all I found Chapter 1 very enlightening.
